John Spillane @ Fusion Café, Wexford


Award-winning songwriter, singer and musician, storyteller, poet, dreamer and presenter this Cork boy is nothing short of a national treasure. Agus fear níos cairdiúla, níl sé le fáil ar fud an domhain mhóir. Spillane is an advocate of the resurgence of the Irish language having released two albums almost entirely in Irish. The first was a collaboration with Irish poet Louis de Paor under the pseudonym "The Gaelic Hit Factory". More recently he released the double platinum selling album Irish Songs We Learned at School which was recorded with students from Ballincollig. Spillane is presenter of TG4 series 'NA BAILÉID' where he take’s to the roads of Ireland, exploring the origins of the traditional Irish ballads. He has a book about stories behind his lyrics on sale in all good book outlets titled “Will We Be Brilliant Or What ”. Wexford-based songwriter Trish Gallagher does support for this gig.
